Frequently Asked Questions
What is digital marketing?
Digital marketing is a broad term used to describe most marketing that is done over the internet or ‘online’. It includes things like email marketing, pay per click advertising, social media management, SEO and website design and development.
More traditional forms of marketing, sometimes referred to as ‘offline’ marketing, could include: events and physical promotions; direct mail campaigns; traditional print advertising in newspapers and magazines; TV and radio ads.
What areas do you work in?
While we are based in Sydney, we work with clients all over Australia. Our areas of specialisation include website design, website development, search engine optimisation (SEO), website maintenance and management.
How long does it take to build a website?
It really depends on the complexity of what’s needed and how the content will be produced. Smaller websites can be completed within 4 weeks, which includes review time for the client when all the necessary website content is available. If content production is a large component of the build then this will be accounted for in the project plan and timing.
Can I get help after my site has been built?
Absolutely. We offer ongoing support packages or are happy to quote for work on an as needs basis.
I don’t sell products online? Do I need a website?
Websites provide many additional benefits besides ecommerce. Your website can anchor your marketing strategy, reflect your brand and be a resource for customers and employees. If you’d like to take a deeper dive into some of the benefits of having a website, check out our article – 12 Reasons why you need a website
I’m already featured on other websites, do I really need a website of my own?
Short answer – we believe you do. You have no ownership or control of the content on other people’s websites or industry based sites. Other webmasters will be optimizing their sites for their goals (which is fair enough) not yours.
How often should I update my website?
If you are interested in ranking your website organically in the search engines, then adding fresh optimised content is something that needs to be done regularly. How frequently will depend on your business and the competitiveness of your market. Some businesses add content weekly, some monthly, some every day.
Your website should also be reviewed when updating your overall marketing strategy and business plan. You need to make sure it’s in good shape, has the functionality you need and converts. This may lead to a website renovation that is more comprehensive, than just adding fresh content.
How much does SEO cost?
This really comes down to what you would like included in your monthly package. We will provide a tailored quote for any website maintenance and SEO work so you know exactly what the cost is and what’s included. To see the type of things that a maintenance and SEO package could include, visit our packages page. As a rough guide, basic maintenance packages start from $200 per month. SEO Packages that include more complex reporting and marketing services start from $500 per month.
What are backlinks and why are they important?
A backlink is created when other webmasters link to content on your site. This can help to give your site authority in the eyes of the search engines. When it comes to backlinks natural link growth and the quality of the links are important. All links are not created equal.
How long does it take to get results with my website changes?
There are a number of variables that will affect how quickly you can expect results:
- The volume and quality of content you create and add to the site
- The competitiveness of your industry
- The competitiveness of your keywords
- Whether your site has ever been penalised in the past by the search engines
- The age and authority of your site
- Any previous efforts made to optimise the site
What do I need to provide for a website build or renovation?
Each project is unique, and we’ll make sure we scope it out during the consultation process. Some clients provide the majority of the content, others don’t have much on hand and prefer to work with us on producing what’s needed. We can manage content production if you need us to and will include this in your proposal. As a general guide some of the content and types of access we might need to complete your project include:
- Any specific artwork you require – such as your logo if you already have one
- Any branding requirements or branding guidelines for your business – colours, fonts etc
- Content for the website – this could include things like written text, sales copy, product descriptions, case studies, images of jobs completed, any specific images or graphics you would like to be used
- Access to your hosting and domain accounts
- Access to your WordPress or CMS dashboard
- Access to your Hosting CPanel
What does a custom website cost?
The average market cost of a quality website design for a small to medium business is between $3500 and $15000. When we develop your proposal we will clearly specify what is included in your design and development project and this determines the cost. This is important as some agencies will not include content as part of your project and you will need to deliver everything required. Others only provide development services and you will need to plan the design. We can help you with both website design and content creation as needed for your website.
Will I own my website?
Yes. We design and develop your site but you will own it.
Can I continue to use my current email marketing software? (Mailchimp, Get Response etc)
Yes we will integrate your existing email marketing software.
